Creativitea is a group that meets monthly at Cambridge Salvation Army Community Hub for a chat over tea and coffee. A different simple craft activity is taught each month. No previous crafting experience is needed as step by step guidance is given and friendly advice is on hand!
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- Crafting is a mindful activity that can help you to relax;
- You can connect with other people in a calm, quiet environment;
- It is a very informal group, where you can take part in the organised crafts, bring your own crafts from home, chat to others or simply sit quietly.

What to expect
The group meet on the first Friday of each month from 10am - 11.30am at the Hive (downstairs meeting room) at the Salvation Army Community Hub on Tenison Road. Once you've entered the building, walk through the café area, up the slope and then through the double doors on your left.
The group is facilitated by Ginny and Rupert, who will give you a warm welcome and show you where you can help yourself to tea, coffee and biscuits.
At each meeting there is a guided craft activity for which all materials are provided. It is beneficial if you can arrive at the session promptly, to ensure that you have the opportunity to hear the explanation from the beginning and to follow through the steps involved.
If you prefer not to do the guided craft, you are very welcome to do your own thing with the materials, bring your own craft from home, or just to drop in for a drink and a chat. Mindful colouring pages and crosswords are also available at the sessions in case you would prefer to do those. If you would like to step out of the group for some quiet time, there is an outdoor courtyard just outside the room, and a quiet space in the hub at the rear of the café area.
The group is aimed at adults 18 and over, but children over 11 are welcome to come along with their parent/carer provided they are supervised at all times.
If you are interested in joining the group, email Gill on creativiteagroup@gmail.com who will provide more information about upcoming sessions. There is no pressure to come every time, just come to the sessions that suit you.
