Monthly inclusive yoga classes at The Edge Café to support positive mental wellbeing, connection, relaxation, and self care.
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- Yoga can help reduce stress and calm the nervous system through controlled breathing, movement, and mindfulness. Practices like deep breathing and relaxation can lower tension and improve mental clarity.
- Regular yoga classes can improve physical wellbeing by increasing flexibility, balance, posture, and strength. This can reduce aches, stiffness, and the risk of injury in daily life.
- Yoga can support emotional wellbeing and self awareness. Taking time to focus on your body and mind can improve mood, boost confidence, and create a greater sense of balance and connection.
“I was nervous to start because I didn’t know anyone and I’m not very flexible. But I always feel welcomed and I feel calmer, stronger, and freer after each session.” - Cambridge class participant.

What to expect
Who are the sessions for?
The classes are suitable for anyone aged 16 and over. No previous experience needed. All abilities are welcome and the classes are adapted to suit individual needs. Both men and women attend the classes. There is a maximum of 8 people per class.
What happens during the sessions?
The classes are an hour of gentle and intuitive yoga that includes breath awareness and asana (postures) and ending with relaxation. Vicky the teacher (pictured above) is always there 15-20 mins early to greet you when you arrive. When attending for the first time you should arrive 10 minutes early to speak to Vicky, let her know any relevant health conditions, and share what you would like to get from yoga practice (e.g. relaxation, physical strength, community).
The classes are taught in a trauma informed way. This means Vicky does not offer hands on assistance or adjustment, respecting everyone's personal space to practise yoga and feel safe to do so.
Where and when do sessions take place?
At the Edge Cafe, usually on the first Saturday of each month, 11am-12pm (unless stated otherwise)
Do you need to book ahead?
Booking is essential as spaces are limited. Please book via the website. If you are have any questions you are welcome to contact Vicky in advance on y[email protected]
Can you bring a carer / parent / guest / social prescriber?
Yes but due to limited space in the room they will also need to book onto the class. Alternatively they are welcome to wait outside in the café.
How long do the sessions last?
Each session lasts for 60 minutes. Attendees are encouraged to take a break and rest whenever needed.
