4D Dance CIC - Adult dance classes

Back to Activities

4D Dance CIC run weekly adult hip hop/commercial dance classes aimed at beginners. The classes are about getting moving, having fun and enjoying the music, as much as they are about learning dance.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • Movement to music is great for mental health - many studies show that dance can help reduce stress, increase levels of the feel-good hormone serotonin, and help develop new neural connections.
  • Dancing is great for physical health. Many people struggle to find a way to improve their physical health that they enjoy - 4D Dance classes are so fun that participants forget that they are getting their heart rate up!
  • Classes offer an opportunity to get to know new people and enjoy each other's company.

"I felt nervous before coming to class, which is normal when you have never done something before…but Amy is a wonderful teacher and her enthusiasm, encouragement and energy makes you feel at ease."

What to Expect

4D Dance run two weekly adult classes on Wednesday evenings at the Colours of Dance studios on Histon Road:

  • Beginner/Open Hip Hop/Commercial - for men and women aged 18+
  • Outta Sync - for men or anyone who identifies as male aged 21+

Both classes are ideal for complete beginners who want to learn something new in a fun, friendly environment, and also suitable for people who have danced previously and want to get back into it. Both cover hip hop foundations and commercial technique and include working towards routines. There is no upper age limit for either class and current attendees are aged between 18 and 65.

The classes are 45 minutes long - comprising of a chat, warm up, some technique work and then learning a routine. Content is covered at a steady pace and lots of options are available to make things easier or harder so you can decide how much challenge you want.

The first time you attend the instructor, Amy, will greet you at the entrance, show you into the studio and introduce you to others. You will be able to choose where you want to stand (back, middle or front!). After your first class Amy will let you know the keypad entry code to the door so you can let yourself in.

Advanced booking is required for all classes. Find out more details and book your place on the 4D Dance website. Your first class is a free taster class - you can use code BEGNEWBIE.

If you are feeling nervous before the class you are very welcome to email [email protected]. There is also a WhatsApp group for participants that you can join if you wish.
