Abbey Voices Community Choir

Back to Activities

Abbey Voices is a friendly community choir in Abbey. They sing a range of different songs including pop, folk and songs from different cultures and traditions. There is no need to read music as all songs are taught by ear. New members are always welcome.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • Singing is known to reduce stress and anxiety;
  • Singing releases endorphins (feel good hormones in the brain);
  • It is a good opportunity to meet and connect with others in the local community.

“ I have made new friends who live close by to me that I would never have met had I not got involved with Abbey Voices. Each Thursday evening I spend with my choir friends leaves me feeling uplifted and happy that the opportunity to sing with local people is open to me. It is true what they say, singing really is good for the soul.” Lynsey, regular attendee.
