Back to Activities

The Creative Arts for Wellbeing Group at The EDGE Café is a space for people to come together and take part in a variety of art activities and crafts. It is a relaxed and friendly group open to everyone, no previous experience needed.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • drawing, painting and crafting are mindful activities which can help you to relax;
  • you will meet new people in a friendly space with a real sense of community and connection through art;
  • you can feel a sense of achievement through creating artwork to keep or give to family and friends.

“I was looking for a creative community and found it at the Art group at The EDGE Café. I feel welcome and safe. The atmosphere is relaxing and the creative energy is amazing and enhances my wellbeing.”

“Everyone is really friendly and helpful.”

What to expect

The Creative Arts for Wellbeing Group meets 1.15-3.15pm on Thursdays in the Hayman Room at the EDGE café. Every week there is a different theme and you will create a piece of artwork to take home. The group are encouraged to use different materials ranging from pencils, pens, pastels and paints to collage and craft materials. Occasionally the group goes on field trips to provide inspiration for their artwork.

All materials are provided and everyone is welcome, no previous experience is required. There is no need to book, you can just come along to the sessions you wish to attend. When you arrive at the EDGE Café the staff will be able to direct you to the group.
