What to expect

Cambridge Buddhist Centre is a friendly and welcoming space on Newmarket Road. They offer classes and courses on a wide range of topics, including Tai Chi, Pilates, yoga, meditation, relaxation and mindfulness. You do not need to be a Buddhist to attend these classes, people of all faiths and none are very welcome.

Details of classes can be found on the Cambridge Buddhist Centre website. Most classes run as a course of a number of weeks, which you pre-book in advance. If the block is not fully booked, drop-in places will be available for individual sessions.

The course descriptions on the website give information about what to expect when you go along to a class, and the level of experience required. Many courses are suitable for beginners. Some meditation and relaxation courses may not be suitable for people experiencing mental health challenges. Details are given on the course description, if you have any questions about suitability contact [email protected].

When you arrive at the Centre for your first class you will be greeted by someone at the reception desk. If no-one is at the desk when you arrive, ring the doorbell and someone will come to meet you. At the bottom of this page there is a video showing the entrance of Cambridge Buddhist Centre, to let you know what to expect.

More information

For all classes you should bring some water and wear loose, comfortable clothing with flat shoes. In many of the classes you will practice barefoot. Toilets and changing rooms are available at Cambridge Buddhist Centre.

Parking at the Centre is extremely limited, with space for only seven cars. To maximise space, cars need to be double parked, and users need to put their details on a slip of paper on their dashboard. There are full details about this, and also information about alternative parking and public transport options, on the Cambridge Buddhist Centre website.

The Centre is a Grade 2* listed building so some upstairs rooms are not accessible. If you have accessibility requirements please give information at the point of booking and the Centre will endeavour to meet your needs. There is more information on their website.
