Chorus Music Therapy and Education

Back to Activities

Chorus Music Therapy and Education are a team of music educators and qualified music therapists based in Cambridge. They offer group and individual music lessons and music therapy sessions.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • Group music lessons and therapy sessions foster social interaction and a sense of community;
  • Participating in music education, such as learning to play an instrument, can sharpen fine and gross motor skills and enhance cognitive abilities like attention and memory;
  • Engaging in music therapy provides a safe and supportive environment to express and process emotions, which can help reduce anxiety and improve overall mental health.

"Nice teacher, very patient with students, tailoring teaching to children's different levels. My son has been learning piano for 5 years here, and because of the teacher's encouraging teaching style, he has maintained his interest in piano, which is very important."

What to expect

Chorus Music Therapy's mission is to promote the therapeutic benefits of music to people of all ages and backgrounds. They run the following group music education sessions:

Their Music Parade Group is for pre-school children aged 3-5 years, together with their parents. It aims to nurture a love for music while supporting children's auditory and motor development in a joyful and engaging environment. Children take part in playful activities and songs which teach fundamental musical concepts, enhance musical perception and prepare children step-by-step for a deeper understanding of music. Sessions are run with groups of up to 20 students.

Their Keyboard Beginner Group is for children aged 3-6 years. Children have the opportunity to explore the keyboard and learn basic techniques of playing. They also take part in rhythm games and singing with bells. The sessions aim to give children a safe and supportive environment where they can freely express themselves through music and develop a strong sense of rhythm and timing, harmony and melody.

Their Ukulele Group is a beginner-friendly group for all ages. Children and adults can learn basic ukulele chords, simple strumming patterns and a variety of songs to play and sing along to.

All of the above group sessions are beginner-friendly, with no prior experience required. For more information visit their website.
