Clay Farm Community Garden

Back to Activities

Clay Farm Community Garden is a beautiful space in Trumpington where you can enjoy spending time in nature. There are opportunities to volunteer in the garden and take part in community activities including coffee mornings, garden parties and nature spotting events.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • Spending time outdoors can help boost your mood and reduce stress;
  • You can connect with others and build a community;
  • You can volunteer to help in the garden – gardening is a good form of mindful exercise that can give you a real sense of achievement.

“I am grateful for the community garden and the people I have come to know through it. We are lucky to have this space and look forward to spending more time there and seeing how it blooms over the next seasons.”

What to expect

The garden is open 24 hours a day. It has lawns, sweeping paths, planted borders and raised beds. It also has seating areas, a vegetable plot and fruit trees. The garden is fully accessible with wide paths and there is an disabled toilet on site which is available for use when the garden building is open.

There is a resident pop-up coffee cart in the garden selling coffee, tea and pastries most Monday to Saturdays (8.30am – 2pm).  On some Thursday evenings the garden hosts garden parties with local food trucks. Visit the website for upcoming dates.

More information

The garden is being developed and maintained by a friendly, dedicated group of local people. They always welcome new volunteers to help in the garden. There are regular opportunities to get involved in watering, weeding and planting, and there may also be potential to take part in bigger projects. All gardening equipment and tools are provided.

If you would be interested in helping with gardening activities, you can visit the garden and speak to one of the volunteers, or email [email protected]. If you would like to be more involved you can join the Action Group who plan garden activities on WhatsApp.

If gardening isn’t your thing you can also get involved in other ways, such as organising garden events. Whatever skills or ideas you can offer, they would love to hear from you!

The garden has an email mailing list with monthly news and updates. To be added to the mailing list email [email protected]
