What to expect
DDMIX classes run at Meadows Community Centre during term time on Tuesday evenings 7.30 - 8.30pm and Friday mornings 9.30 - 10.30am. The classes are led by a local dance teacher, Victoria Quirke. No previous experience is necessary, just enthusiasm and a pair of trainers!
When you arrive at the class Victoria will welcome you. Feel free to arrive a bit early if it’s your first time. Victoria will lead the group in a warmup, and then lead different dance routines for the group to copy and dance along. The different routines are inspired by music and dance styles from different eras and around the world. The class then finishes with a warm down and some relaxation.
For each dance routine Victoria gives a range of options of movements which will suit people with different levels of mobility, fitness or energy. She also gives options for people to join in the routines while seated in a chair.
The aim of DDMIX is to get people moving without being intimidated by the word ‘dance’ or the technicality of the steps. The classes are relaxed, and everyone is encouraged to just have a go and have fun.
