Disability Sport – Cambridge United Foundation

Back to Activities

Cambridge United Foundation run disability sports sessions to provide opportunities for people with additional needs to experience the benefits of being physically active.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • You can get active in a fun and enjoyable way, no matter your physical ability;
  • Taking part in sports and physical activity can improve your mental wellbeing, increase your self-esteem and confidence and give you a sense of purpose;
  • It provides an opportunity to socialise with friends and meet new people.

 ‘It’s made me more confident in myself and helped me learn new skills.’

What to expect

Cambridge United Foundation runs inclusive football sessions for people aged 16 and over at the Astro pitch at the Abbey Leisure Complex on Thursdays evenings. These are pan-disability sessions, meaning that they are inclusive of all types of disabilities.

The session leader leads a variety of different individual practices, focusing mostly on improving technical ability, followed by various game related team practices.

Wear suitable footwear and bring a water bottle and any personal medical equipment that might be required during a session.
