Friday Lunch Club at St Paul's (65+)

Back to Activities

St Paul’s older people's lunch club promises a warm welcome and a home cooked two-course meal followed by tea and coffee, with fresh flowers and set tables. There are occasional lunchtime concerts to enjoy. They celebrate birthdays, Christmas, Easter and other special occasions.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • It's a way to meet new people and make friends;
  • You become part of a community;
  • You can enjoy a healthy and tasty two course lunch

What to expect

The lunch club is held on Friday lunchtimes in the Lower Hall of St Paul's. Enter the church through the front entrance on Hill's Road and the hall is on the left, past the stairs. Lunch is served at 12:30pm, with two courses followed by tea and coffee. People usually begin to arrive from 12pm and leave by 2pm.

There's no need to book - just turn up! When you arrive you'll be greeted by a friendly team of staff and volunteers, who will take your name. The staff and volunteers are the same every week so everyone gets to know each other. Most of the volunteers are retired too and everyone eats together.

You will be served a two course lunch followed by tea and coffee. There is always a vegetarian option available, but let the team know if you have other dietary requirements or allergies. You are welcome to bring anyone else along, whether a carer, friend or relative.

The lunch club is open to people of all faiths and none. Before the meal a Book of Common Prayer service is held in the Chapel which lunch club members are welcome to attend.
