Logan's Meadow

Back to Activities

Logan’s Meadow is a nature reserve next to the River Cam. It is a haven for many types of wildlife, with wooded areas, open grassy areas and wetlands.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • Spending time in green spaces is known to improve mental and physical well-being;
  • The reserve is large enough to jog around and, with its own outdoor gym, offers the opportunity to engage in free physical exercise;
  • The Friends of Logan’s Meadow run regular activities like bat and bird walks led by local experts, which provide a connection with nature.

"I never knew there were so many moths living right here amongst us!" - Attendee of a Friends of Logan’s Meadow event.

What to expect

You can enter the reserve from the end of Logan’s Way in Chesterton, where there is some on-street parking. You can also enter from the Equiano pedestrian and cycling bridge - there is a ramp down to the meadow from the bridge.

The reserve has a playing field, wetland areas with board walks, and a wooded section. There are some paved paths around the reserve, although some areas are unpaved and can get muddy in wet weather. There is an outdoor gym which is free to use.

There is a swift tower next to the Equiano Bridge - a colourful sculpture made of 150 nesting boxes for swifts.
