Downing Place URC hosts classical music concerts most Wednesday lunchtimes throughout the year, with different musicians performing each week. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy listening to these high-quality performances in the peaceful environment of the church.

What to expect
The concerts are held at 1pm on Wednesdays, you can arrive anytime from 12.30pm onwards and take your seat. Enter the church building through the main entrance (shown in the video above). You will be greeted at the door and given a programme with details of the pieces that will be performed. You’ll then be directed into the church where you can choose a seat wherever you like. The concerts last for around 50 minutes.
The church provides free tea, coffee and biscuits in their Hub area before and after the concerts (from 11am to 3pm). Everyone is welcome to join, feel free to bring your own packed lunch to eat in the Hub area. If you would like to join for refreshments before the concert you should enter the Hub area through the side entrance of the church (see the video at the bottom of this page).
There is no need to book for the concerts, you can just go along. You can find details of upcoming performances on the Downing Place URC website. Around 80 – 100 people attend the concerts each week.

Downing Place URC is fully accessible to wheelchair users, with lifts, ramps and accessible toilets.
There is no parking at the church but the Grand Arcade car park is a few minutes’ walk away and Drummer Street bus station is around five minutes’ walk away. There is bicycle parking opposite the church.
The concerts are free to attend, and refreshments are provided between 11am and 3pm in the Hub area of the church.
There is a collection for charity after the concert which you can choose to donate to if you wish. Details of the charity are given in the concert programme.
