Monday Club is a friendship club for over sixties from the church and local community. They meet on Mondays during term time for a game of bingo and a chat over tea and biscuits. They also have occasional speakers on various topics.
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- meeting for a coffee and a chat can help prevent loneliness and social isolation;
- the group is a great way to meet new people and make new friends;
- playing bingo is fun and some studies have found it can help with memory and cognition.
“I like coming along and chatting to different people. Everyone is very friendly”.

What to expect
The Monday Club is held in the Church Hall of the Church of the Good Shepherd. The Hall is the small building in front of the main Church. The video at the bottom of the page shows where the entrance is.
The group meet from 2 – 3.30pm every Monday in school term time. The sessions start with a game of bingo and then everyone has a chat over tea and biscuits. There is a raffle each week where everybody brings a prize and everybody takes something home, and the session ends with singing a hymn together.
People of all faiths and none are welcome to join.
