Online Self-Care Sessions with Fay

Back to Activities

These online self-care sessions offer tools to support mental health and general wellbeing. Fay, the instructor, leads the group in different exercises including breathwork, movement, stretching and guided massage, alongside group wellbeing discussions.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • You can learn useful tools which are easy to replicate at home in your own time;
  • You can meet new people and become part of a friendly, inclusive community;
  • The sessions are online which makes them accessible to those who may be excluded from in-person activities.

“I’m really glad I came across Fay’s sessions as they’ve been such a big part of my recovery from depression and an inspiration for me to get moving to help raise my mood.”

“Fay has an awesome way of adapting her sessions to the individual’s needs and often gives us a number of options of how to do a movement (ranging in difficulty).  After my first session with Fay, I felt motivated to get moving and I started doing some of the movements she taught me in my own time. It’s been great for both my mental and physical health. Fay’s self-massage techniques are also a favourite - and they are awesome to use whenever I am feeling stressed or overwhelmed.

"It has felt more like a natural sharing of wellbeing tips and knowledge, more like a conversation amongst friends than a class to come to, which has helped to make it stick in my brain more and to helped me to integrate more self-care practices into my daily life."

What to expect

The sessions are held online twice a month on Zoom. This makes them accessible to people who may experience anxiety about attending in person, as well as those who are unable to get to in-person sessions for other reasons such as caring responsibilities.

The sessions are lead by Fay Durrant, an experienced facilitator trained in yoga, Pilates, massage and breathwork. Sessions are open to people of all ages, genders and abilities. No previous knowledge or experience is required. They may be particularly beneficial for those experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, depression or chronic pain.

Each session lasts for an hour and a half. They usually start with some calming breathwork, and Fay then leads some adapted movement which can be done seated or using support. There is then usually a group discussion on a wellbeing topic (to which participants are welcome to contribute as much or as little as they wish). The sessions usually finish with some guided massage or fascial release. The sessions are participant-led so this format can vary.
