The Scrabble Club meets at Rock Road Library on Monday mornings. People of all levels of experience are very welcome to join this friendly and chatty group. It's a good opportunity to meet new people, have fun and improve your Scrabble skills.
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- Scrabble is wonderful for keeping the mind active - not just with the words and creative thinking, but also maths via score keeping;
- It gets people out of the house and socalising, not just with the Club, but the Library as a whole. The group have got to know the librarians over time and regular users of the Library pop in to say hi too;
- It supports a local library and keeps the service going for others to enjoy.
I love the Scrabble club, it is a big highlight in my week. I've made friends, improved my game play and felt a real sense of community.

What to expect
The Club meets in the Community Room at Rock Road Library every Monday morning (except Bank Holidays) from 10am until around noon. The Club welcomes people of all ages and abilities.
There's no need to book ahead, just go along. When you arrive, go to the Community Room where the group will welcome you and introduce themselves. Attendees will then split into pairs to play a game of Scrabble. The aim is that people play with a different person each week. There is usually enough time for two games per session. The games are usually played in pairs, but if there is an uneven number of people there will be a game with three people.
People usually come for the start of the session. You can arrive later, but you would then need to wait until someone was available to play or join a game already in progress. You are very welcome to bring a carer along.
If you have a Scrabble board at home you are invited to bring this along, but it's no problem if you don't. When playing, everyone keeps score to ensure the scoring is accurate.
There is no official leader or organiser of the Scrabble Club, but if you have any questions or you are nervous about going along then you are welcome to get in touch with Amy, who is a regular attendee, on amy.ezekiel@gmail.com or 07837 326592.
