The Air Cadets is a youth organisation that provides opportunities for young people to develop personal and professional skills. The 104 Squadron in Cambridge runs various activities including aviation, camping, climbing, target shooting, sports and leadership training.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • You can meet other young people with similar interests and work together as a team;
  • You can learn new things and develop skills through completing training and taking part in activities;
  • You can spend lots of time outdoors, which is good for wellbeing.

What to expect

The 104 Squadron meet on Monday and Thursday evenings in Cambridge. Young people take part in a wide variety of outdoor, adventure and sports activities, and also participate in training in first aid and STEM topics (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). For more information about the activities Air Cadets take part in, visit the 104 Squadron website. There are also opportunities to get involved in activities at weekends.

Young people can join the Air Cadets from the age of 13 (or 12 if they are in year 8) up until the age of 17. There are usually two intakes per year, in September and January. If you are interested in joining email [email protected] or visit their website for more information.

Volunteering

There are opportunities for adults aged over 18 to volunteer with the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, helping to run the sessions. Volunteering can help you develop your leadership, communication and professional skills. For more information contact [email protected].
