Sing! Community Choir

Back to Activities

Sing! is a friendly, supportive community choir open to adults of all ages. They meet each week to sing songs in a variety of styles including pop, gospel and jazz. There's no need to be able to read music and there are no auditions. Everyone is welcome!

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • singing is proven to reduce stress and it releases endorphins which make you feel good;
  • it’s a great way of meeting people, socialising and forming new friendships;
  • learning song lyrics and building musical skills helps keep your brain active.

What to expect?

The choir currently has around 100 members. They rehearse on Thursday evenings at Hills Road Sixth Form College.

They run taster sessions for people who are interested in joining the choir at various points throughout the year. Visit their website for details of how to join.

More information

Sing! Community Choir was set up in Summer 2012 by four friends: Bethany, Naomi, Tizzy and Tom (pictured above). From the beginning they wanted Sing! to be a community choir – run by a group, not just one leader, and encouraging others to get involved and have a go. Today they still work like that – everyone is encouraged and supported to have a go at teaching, conducting, leading a warm up or doing a solo, if they would like to.

The choir run taster sessions so you can try the choir for free, and see whether it’s for you.
Visit their website for details of upcoming taster sessions.

There is a fee for rehearsals, paid termly. There is a reduced rate for concessions.
