Back to Activities

Cambridge City Council run and support a variety of events and activities for local communities every summer, including a programme of activities for children and families, outdoor concerts in local parks, an outdoor arts festival, and a daytrip to the seaside for over 55s.

Summer events coordinated by Cambridge City Council for residents of the city include:

  • A programme of free activities and events for children, young people and families throughout the school holidays. There are opportunities to try different sports, games, dance, arts and crafts and wellbeing activities. Most of the activities are drop-in but some require pre-booking.
  • 'Music in the Parks' - free Sunday afternoon concerts in various parks across Cambridge throughout the summer. The live music performances include jazz, wind, brass and more.
  • 'Out of the Ordinary' festival – a free arts festival in August with performances including music, dance, physical theatre, visual comedy and aerial displays.
  • The Mayor's Day Out - a day out to the seaside via coach for Cambridge City residents aged 55 and over. This event has been running since 1986. The coach picks residents up from various points around the city.
