What to expect
Joining the orchestra requires Grade 8 standard playing of an instrument. The orchestra welcomes enquiries from players who are interested in joining. You will be invited to come along to play with the orchestra for a few rehearsals to get a feel for it. After a few weeks you will be invited to an audition with the conductor of the orchestra. If successful you will become a full member.
More information
The orchestra rehearses every Tuesday evening at Great St Mary’s Church in central Cambridge. Parking is available at the nearby Grand Arcade car park (free in the evenings). The church is wheelchair accessible and there is an accessible toilet.
The concert gives four concerts a year, to which everyone is welcome.
Potential members can attend the initial few rehearsals for free, before deciding whether they would like to audition to become a member.
Members of the orchestra are asked to pay an annual membership fee, to cover the cost of running the orchestra and the hire of music. If the cost is a barrier special arrangements can be made so that no one is excluded.
