St Paul's Thursday Group is a friendly, informal group of adults with a mix of interests, abilities and disabilities, physical and mental health challenges. The group meets weekly for varied social activities (crafts, art, wellbeing walks) and lunch, and goes on monthly outings.
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- You get to meet people and make friends in a safe and welcoming environment;
- You get to try new things and visit new places;
- You can enjoy a tasty and healthy two-course lunch every week!
"I enjoyed that!"
"We always have a good time together here"

What to expect
The group meets at 11am on Thursday mornings for social activities - often arts and crafts. On the first Thursday of the month they go for a gentle walk in the Botanic Gardens. At 12.15pm there is then an informal candle lighting service which is optional to attend. Lunch is served at 12.30pm and people usually stay until 1.30pm.
Anyone is welcome to join! Lots of the group live with mental health challenges, physical or intellectual disabilities. It's a place where people understand the difficulties you might face in life, and you will find a listening ear if you need, but can also enjoy yourself with fun craft activities and a tasty lunch.
No booking is required - just turn up. You'll be greeted by the group and a friendly team of staff and volunteers. There are usually the same volunteers every week so everyone gets to know each other. You are welcome to bring anyone else along, whether carer, friend or relative.
Every month or two, there is an outing organised instead of the usual social activities. Sometimes this is a whole day out to an interesting destination, other times it's a morning or afternoon somewhere local. The outings do require booking ahead.
