VOX Community Choir

Back to Activities

The VOX Community Choir meet at East Barnwell Community Centre on the second Sunday of every month for singing workshops led by an experienced choral leader. Everyone is welcome, there are no auditions and no experience or ability are required, just a love of singing!

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • Singing is good for your physical health and wellbeing;
  • You can meet new people and have a laugh together;
  • You can learn new skills.

What to expect

The choir sing a variety of songs, mainly folk songs, led by experienced choral leader Helen Robbins. Some of the songs are sung in unison and some in different parts. There is no need to be able to read music because the songs are taught step-by-step and there is plenty of opportunity to practice.

The choir meet on the second Sunday of every month from 3-5pm at East Barnwell Community Centre. There is a short break halfway through the session and the choir take turns bringing biscuits.

The choir started out as a parent group from Coleridge Community College, but they are now a big group of adults (and a few teenagers) from all over Abbey and other parts of Cambridge.

If you are interested in joining feel free to just go along, or to send an email to [email protected] so they know to expect you. The first session is free and you don't have to stay for the whole session if you prefer not to.
