What to expect
Who is the activity for?
You can play tennis at any age and Walking Tennis offers an easy way for older people or people with a physical injury or in rehab to keep active – whilst also enjoying the social side of being part of a tennis community.
What happens in a session?
Walking Tennis rules are simple and designed to make the game accessible for all. It’s still tennis – but with a few tweaks:
- You can let the ball bounce twice for extra time to get to the ball.
- You can play on a smaller court and use modified equipment.
- Players can’t run or jump.
Coordinated and led by Heather, these friendly sessions encourage more experienced players to support less mobile or experienced players. It helps if you have played tennis before or are familiar with the rules of the game, but if you aren't, you can still join in.
When do sessions take place and how long do they last?
Held at 1pm every Tuesday, but contact Heather in advance using the email address provided to check dates/times or if you have any questions. Sessions last 90 minutes, but you can rest or leave early if you need to. It is very relaxed and informal!
How do I book?
If you'd like to come along for a taster session, email Heather using the email address provided so she knows to expect you.
