Cogwheel Counselling

Back to Support

Cogwheel Counselling provides affordable counselling for individuals, children/young people, couples & families facing a range of issues. Anyone can self-refer to Cogwheel, you don't need to talk to your GP first. Support can be online and in person.

Cogwheel Counselling was founded in 1988 to provide affordable counselling for everyone, regardless of their financial situation.

Counselling is a type of talking therapy and involves exploring with a trained professional thoughts, feelings and behaviours that are negatively affecting your life.

There are many different types of counselling, but all counselling should be non-judgmental, respectful and confidential.

Cogwheel is accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

What to expect?

If you self-refer to Cogwheel, you will receive an initial assessment from a qualified counsellor, usually via an online or in-person appointment. This takes about 50 minutes. Based on this conversation, you will then be offered up to twenty sessions with a qualified or trainee counsellor.

There is often a waiting list depending on demand.

Cogwheel operates from rooms at the Cambridge Citizens Advice Bureau at 66 Devonshire Road, Cambridge, CB1 2LB and counselling sessions take place online or in person.

You will be asked to make a financial contribution for each counselling session based on your income & circumstances.
