The MS Society is a national charity that provides information and support for people living with Multiple Sclerosis and also people who are caring for someone with the condition. The national MS Society website has lots of detailed information about the condition, and advice to help you manage your symptoms and live well.
The Cambridge, Ely & Newmarket Group provides a wide range of support locally including:
MS Support
If you need emotional support to help you deal with any aspect of MS, you may find it helpful to talk to a local Support Volunteer. You can contact them by email: [email protected]
Benefits advice
People with MS, their families and carers can access independent, confidential and impartial advice on their rights and responsibilities online or via telephone. This may include advice regarding benefits, healthcare and discrimination. Find out more on this page.
Physical activity sessions
The group runs several weekly exercise classes in Cambridgeshire, both in person and online. All in person exercise classes are hosted at fully accessible venues that also have cafeterias where the attendees gather after class for a coffee. In Cambridge the in person sessions are held at Arbury Community Centre.
There is some information about classes on the Cambridge, Ely and Newmarket Group website. For more information and to sign up email [email protected]. You will need to complete a pre-exercise health questionnaire before joining a class. All instructors are trained by the CPFT Falls team to lead physical activity for those with disabilities. All instructors are covered by their own insurance.
Art Workshops
The group runs art workshops in Cambridge. The workshops are not ‘art therapy’ but social events designed to alleviate depression, anxiety and isolation caused by a long term chronic health condition. Being good at art is not the point, it is for people affected by MS and their families to spend a couple of hours having fun!
Support for carers
All carers for those with MS are welcome to attend any of the classes and activities. Most carers choose to enjoy some respite in the venue cafes, supporting and socialising with other carers.

All exercise classes, benefits advice, counselling, alternative therapies and art workshops are free of charge to those with a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis.
