What to expect
The Grief Cafe is held at St Matthew's Church in Cambridge on the last Friday of every month from 10am to 12noon. It is a welcoming space which offers time to talk, share and reflect in a safe and supportive environment. Anyone living with grief is welcome, whether you are newly bereaved or you lost a loved one some time ago. You can bring along anyone you may need to support you.
When you arrive you will be welcomed by member of the Weyman team who will invite you to take a seat. You can then take part in an informal discussion over hot drinks and a sweet treat. There is no pressure to speak, you can just listen to others if you prefer.
The group is a not a formal therapy support group, instead it is a safe space for anyone to share grief. Many people find that attending Grief Cafes can help to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation, because they offer an opportunity to meet others who understand what they are going through. Hearing other people's journey through grief can also offer comfort and hope, as it can serve as a reminder that healing is possible and looks different for everyone.
You don't need to have used Weyman's services to attend this group, and that there is no pressure to use them in the future. It is a group that is open to anyone in the local community experiencing grief.
