What to expect
If you are experiencing any of the following, you can contact the YOUnited Referral Hub for signposting and support:
Anxiety
Panic
Obsessive or compulsive type behaviour
Low mood or depression
Mood changes affecting routine
Anger
Relationship issues
Family breakdown
Conflict
Loss or bereavement
Bullying or trauma
Exploring your identity (gender, culture, sexual identity and so on)
Things putting you at risk (suicidal thoughts, self-harm, eating difficulties, drug and alcohol use
Difficulties regulating your emotions)
If you are the parent or carer of a child aged between five and thirteen you can refer your child – there’s more information and the referral form on this link.
If you are a young person aged between thirteen and seventeen you can refer yourself (or ask a parent/carer or professional to refer you) – there’s more information and the referral form on this link.
After receiving the form, the YOUnited team will review the information and decide which partner organisation (see below) is best placed to offer you support. Alternatively, the team may suggest a mental health service attached to your school as they work closely with the Mental Health Support Teams (MHST). You will then be contacted by phone, text or letter to discuss next steps, which may include a conversation to find out more about what you are experiencing. Support often includes a talking-based intervention, which could be Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) or counselling.
