What to expect
Cambridge Acorn Project run drop-in Community Wellbeing Hubs where you can speak confidentially with a professional about any issues you are experiencing in your family, including parenting concerns, relationship difficulties, wellbeing, mental health and behavioural concerns. They can support you with life admin, parenting strategies and signposting to other organisations. They can also make a referral for you and your child/ren to access therapy. Their hubs are safe places run by friendly therapeutic staff and volunteers.
In Cambridge there are three weekly drop-in hubs (term-time only):
- 'Mellow Mondays' is at the Clay Farm Centre in Trumpington on Mondays from 9 - 11am. Go to the Byron Room on the 1st floor.
- 'Talk it Through Thursdays’ is at the Family Centre on Fisher’s Lane in Cherry Hinton on Thursdays from 9-11am.
- 'Frazzled Fridays' is at the Abbey People Hub on Barnwell Road on Fridays from 8:30 - 11am.
There is no referral needed and you don’t need to book ahead – just go along. Find out more details and contact information on the Cambridge Acorn Project website.
More information
In addition to the drop-in hubs, Cambridge Acorn Project also work individually with children and families, providing bespoke and holistic support. This may include therapeutic interventions delivered by an experienced practitioner, and/or family work designed to reduce inequality and promote long term positive outcomes.
Cambridge Acorn Project believe strongly in the need for individual choice, and therefore provide a range of bespoke, person-centred services and approaches.
You can apply for individual support on the Cambridge Acorn website where there is a form for parents/carers to complete themselves, or alternatively a form for professionals to complete on a family's behalf.
The charity sometimes closes to new support enquiries during times of high demand. In this situation information will be given on the website.

The support provided by Cambridge Acorn Project is free of charge.
