Cambridge Cyrenians

Back to Support

Cambridge Cyrenians give people in Cambridge who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness a safe, stable place to live, and help them rebuild their lives with dignity, support and hope.

What to expect

Cambridge Cyrenians support over 200 people each year through a range of accommodation and their Wellbeing and Independence Services. They provide short-stay housing for people in immediate need and longer-term homes for those working towards independence. They provide specialist support for older people, people leaving prison, and people with mental health needs, and specialist female-only accommodation.

"This is the best I have felt since being on the streets. I know I can speak to Cambridge Cyrenians if I need to."

How to Access Accommodation:
Information about the different types of supported accommodation provided by Cambridge Cyrenians is available on their website. Access to this accommodation is usually via referral from Cambridge City Council or partner organisations. If you are homeless or at risk of homelessness, Cambridge City Council's Housing Advice Team are the first point of contact. For advice on navigating this process you can contact Cambridge Cyrenians 01223 712501 or [email protected].

Wellbeing and Independence Services:
Cambridge Cyrenians offer more than just a safe space to live. Their Wellbeing and Independence Services ensure people are given the mental health support, skills and encouragement to have a second chance at an independent, brighter future. Each person receives personalised support, helping them to move forward at their own pace, in the right way. Support includes:

  • Meaningful Activities: Helping people access education, training and volunteering opportunities on their journey towards employment and independence. This service is open to people who are currently accessing Cambridge Cyrenians services.
  • Mental Health Service: Long-term, specialist support from a qualified mental health professional. Cambridge Cyrenians welcome referrals to this counselling service.
  • Community Allotment: Giving people a structured space to grow food, build routine and connect with others. The project is open to people living in Cambridge Cyrenians' accommodation, other local people using homelessness services, and anyone who has experienced homelessness in the past. Visit this page to find out more.
  • Older Homeless Service: Tailored support for people aged 45 and over, helping them move into suitable accommodation or remain safely and stably housed. ‍Referrals are welcome from professionals or organisations - including self-referrals where you’re already linked with a partner agency such as TVP, Wintercomfort or Jimmy's.
